HEWLETT PACKARD PRINTER ADVICE

Hewlett Packard or HP for short offer a wide variety of printers from all-in-one printer/scanners suitable for office use to home-based options such as affordable ink and laser printers. Your choice of printer will come down to several factors:

The size of paper you intend to use (A4/A3/photo size)

The number of copies you require whether it be one off prints or larger volumes

The quality of print high quality photo or fast printing mono documents

The speed of print

The all-in-one printer/scanner is also an option for home users who wish to scan photographs into digital files or copy documents. Some HP printers also offer automatic 2 sided printing so if you do a lot of 2 sided prints then these models can save much time.

For simple office requirements where the user needs only to print A4 mono documents, the recommended models are the HP Laserjet 1022 or the HP Laserjet P1505 (also P1505n).

For photo reproduction without the need to scan, the HP Photosmart D5160, HP Photosmart D5360 and HP Photosmart D7160 are ideal choices.

Those users who require a scanning option for their photo reproduction should consider the HP Photosmart C4280, HP Photosmart C5280 or HP Photosmart C5180.

Office users who require all-in-one solutions should look no futher than the HP Officejet 4315, the HP Officejet J5780 or the HP Officejet 5610.

Remember, to get the best out of your Hewlett Packard printer, follow these steps:

Use the print preview option before printing any document to make sure everything will appear as planned (draft mode printing can also be used to make a hard copy for preview purposes).Print in black and white wherever possible to reduce costs.Turn your printer off between long periods of printing.Use the print properties option to control the quality of print to your needs. Printing in lower quality will save ink on print jobs which dont require high detail.

Petite Star Zia Pushchair - no alternative to Quinny

Petite Star Zia PushchairI bought this pushchair not long after it was launched in September 2007 as it was lightweight for my holiday. However, before anyone else makes a decision to buy one, PLEASE BEWARE! The wheels frequently come off when walking down the pavement or crossing the road due to a fault in the design. The manufacturer's have dangerously placed a 'quick release' button for the wheels only 2 inches from the ground so any bump in the ground or going up and down curbs knocks the wheels completely off.I chose the Petite Star Zia as it was advertised on ebay as being like the Quinny Zapp but with recline and for 99.99 I thought it was worth a try. I was wrong - the quality is no match to a Quinny product and after using for 2 months it fell to bits! PositivesLightweightFolds down smallNegativesWheels come off easilyFlimsyCannot access shopping basket when baby is in seatAdjustable recline strap is difficult to adjust and stay in positionMy advice is to stick to the well known brands and models with a proven tried and tested reputation.

PAPER JAMS ON LASER PRINTERS

Paper jams are common on most laser printers. Because Laser printers use heat to fuse the toner from the toner cartridge onto the paper, they seem to foul up more than inkjet printers in this respect. Type of paper is important, if you experience frequent paper jams, try changing the brand or quality of paper. Paper jams are also common when the paper drawer is almost empty

Beware!!!

when buying a vehicle, H.P.I. does not cover everything, to my cost...i had bought a "ringer". all the plates had been changed, but the engine number had not been cleared properly....i thought something was wrong, when spare parts i had bought would not fit,but parts for an older model would...so before i contacted the seller i called the police, and after doing thier checks" impounded "the vehicle there and then. they informed me, that if i had been pulled-up or been involved in an accident, ...i could have been arrested for being "in possesion of a stolen vehicle". the previous two sellers had ..had the vehicle H.P.I'd. so take or get someone who really knows about the vehicle you intend to buy..

REMEMBER!!!!!! H.P.I. is no guarantee!!! so far i have lost 8,500.00.

so! BEWARE.

CECT A380i mobile

Having liked the look and feel of the new iphone but not being able to afford one, I read about CECT mobiles in a PC mag. I started searching for such mobiles and decided on the A380i as it seemed to have good reviews on various websites etc. I didn't want to buy from abroad so chose a seller on Ebay that was shipping from the UK. I received my mobile on 14th February, it comes with 2 Lion batteries, a charger with UK adaptor (that also doubles as a data cable), earphones, UKmanualand silicone cover.

The phone can hold 2 sims, the primary sim needs to be put in the Sim 1 slot. You can only use one sim at a time but its fairly easy to switch. There were some preloaded mp3's and mp4 files but many of the songs are chinese. When you attach your phone to your PC via the data cable its basically a case of drag and dropping your files into the desired folder e.g Music, Photos, Video's etc. You can use MP3 tunes for ringtones and photo's for wallpaper or screensavers. The phone has got a memory card installed and I assume this can be upgraded to a larger one if required.

The layout of the menu on the home screen is fairly similar to the iphone but you can't search through your files etc like you can with an iphone. It has a shake feature that you can use to change wallpaper or MP3's, but so far I've found this annoying as when I've put the phone down with little movement the wallpaper has changed and I can't find a way to disable this feature so far. I would imagine that if your out and using the phone as an MP3 player it would easily jump to the next tune with the slightest movement.

Moving onto SMS so far I am very disapointed with how this works. You have the choice of handwriting with the stylus or using the tiny qwerty keyboard at the bottom of the touch screen. Having been very used to the layout of a standard phone keyboard I found this method slow and inaccurate ( and I can touch type on a keyboard!) The handwriting recognition method is extremely slow and often picks the wrong character.

If you want to use MMS or WAP you will need to download the WAP and MMS settings from your network provider before you can do this, I went to the T-Mobile website and downloaded them from there but had to pick another phone from the list as obviously they don't list foreign phones.

To conclude the phone is a good buy if you want an iphone look alike but dont expect to get all the features of one.

I don't think I would buy another foreign phone as if you decide you don't like the phone you can't send it back, at least when purchasing an english phone you have 14 days to decide if you like it and can go into a shop and try the features before you buy.

MEADE LX200 8" 10" 12" SCAMS

Here's a quick guidewhat to look for inscams. It's fairly easy to detect these frauds and report them to Ebay if you know some simple things to watch out for.1 new ebayer or new business account. User ID kept private. 2. Contact seller by ebay emailor other emailbefore bidding or for info ( they do notreply through Ebay system)for a meade LX200 10"that cost over 2998.00 they we sell it to you for 1600.00 if you pay now?they will not do cash on pick upThis is pretty much a DEAD give-away it's fraud! 3. Very cheap or free shipping for large heavy items. 4.two or three day"listing only, . There are lotsmore fraud warnings but these should be enough to keep you from bidding on the item. Also be a good Ebay'er and use the Security Center button on the bottom of the auction page to inform Ebay of the fraud auction. if it's too good to be true, it probably is!

FREE packaging materials through FREECYCLE

Any ebayer looking for free packaging materials should consider joining FREECYCLE. This is a UK wide network which costs nothing to join and in which members offer each other unwanted items free of charge, generally in preference to taking them down to the dump. You will join your local freecycle group as part of the ethos is to avoid excess petrol/pollution/global warming by making items available for reuse as locally as possible. Generally the person who wants the item has to collect it.

Typical items which are frequently offered on my local Freecycle group include:

* Bubble wrap- I obtained a massive quantity from a local high street soap shop, it does result in my packets smelling rather perfumed, for the old records I sell on ebay that does not matter.

* Large packing boxes - usually these are the type that people use when moving house, after that they are surplus to requirements and fold down. These are excellent for packing of bulky items sold through ebay. These are very regularly offered, about once a week, on my local Freecycle group.

* Padded envelopes.

As unfortunately postage costs are very high and can be offputting to ebay buyers, I believe in using only packaging materials which are free to me. The only things I have had to pay for are rolls of duck tape and some glue. As a result I can keep my postage charges to the minimum. If you have to buy boxes and bubble wrap you will really put off buyers with your postage charges- or you will lose money.

If you found this guide helpful, don't forget to say so! Maybe my other guides will also be of interest?

Silver2treasure Guide to Buying Antique Silver on eBay

Hello and welcome to the Silver2teasure guide to buying Antique Silver on ebay. Tips on before you buy, handling silver, affordability, where else to buy, starting a collection, our eBay guide, silver2treasure shop and ends on modern silver.

Before you buy

It is no good crying over spilt milk or so the saying goes. There is no excuse for not educating yourself before you step into the world of buying antique silver especially on line.

Research is essential especially in regard to expensive items. Having said this there is a lot of help available to you. The beauty of British Silver is in the hallmarking system. In our main website at silver2treasure.com we have pages linked to reference sites for British and Continential Hallmarks which are essential references for the new and experienced buyer alike.

You will also want to consider the benefit of investing in silver and our main website contains an article with some of the benefits of investing in silver. Value has strong links to weight in the silver world and understanding the different definitions of an "ounce" can be found in another helpful page at silver2treasure.com. Whilst the internet is a rich source of information there is nothing like a good reference book and I recommend Jacksons's Silver and Gold Marks together with International Hallmarks on Silver collected by Tardy. There are many more and we have created a web page of silver books on eBay at silver2treasure.com as an easy starting point. Despite your best efforts in research be prepared to make mistakes. We all do and it is all part of the learning experience.

Handling Silver

You might think this is a strange heading but I really believe you need to pick up and touch and feel a variety of silver in your early days of collecting. You can do this at Antiques Fiar, Flea Markets and Auction Houses aswell as high street shops. You will feel how a thick heavy guage antique silver item such as a teapot feels completely different to a mass produced example. You will better understand the difference by an embossed decoration and an engraved decoration by its feel much better than reading this in any book. For me the whole beauty of silver is in its ability for everyday use. I am not a fan of leaving it locked away in a vault or cupboard. By handling as much different silver as you can early on in your collecting life, you will quickly learn what styles or makers that appeal to you most and this will help to focus your area of collecting.

Where to go to buy

Ebay obviously. Well actually yes, but with some significant qualifications. First you should have visited a number of antique fairs, flea markets and auction houses to get a "feel for silver". Part of this process might also include antique shops and dealers. Here you will get a lot of advice, knowledge and help but at a price. They will have building and staff overheads which they have to pass on to the customer. Ebay however allows private collectors and dealers alike to trade without having to factor in these costs. Please read the following eBay part of this guide carefully.

Starting your Collection

Your collection will be as varied and as personal as your taste allows. Some collect periods and styles such as Baroque, Rococo, Queen Anne, Georgian, Victorian, Art Deco, Art Nouveau etc the choice is endless. Some collect specific items such as caddy spoons or vesta cases (please see my other eBay guide on vesta cases). Whatever you choose, there is a lifetime of pleasure ahead of you aswell as creating a family heirloom which can be handed on through future generations. Remember we are but temporary guardians of these beautiful items.

Our eBay Guideto Buying Silver

In your research phase, you would be wise to read all of eBay's own guides to buyers. Remember, if an auction looks too good to be true it probably is! Of all the advice Iwould start first at knowing your seller. Why is this important? Well if you what you buy has a problem you will want to get it resolved quickly and without hassle. Look for the sellers' feedback and pay particular attention to the number of feedbacks and then look at as many feedback entries as you can. This will give you a good idea of how the seller conducts themselves. Check they have a returns policy and if they don't then email them and ask. Use the email the same as if the person was in the room with you. Do not be afraid to ask as many silly questions as you like. The sellers should respond positively and helpfully. If they do not, find a seller who does. Look through the eBay Shop categories, find the biggest sellers and go through their shop listings, there are many things you will never find by just focussing on eBay auctions alone. It is worth pointing out that a Buy it Now means you do not have to wait until the auction ends and you cannot be out bid at the last second!

Check you understand the "paypal buyer protection" and does the seller display the paypal logo. If you view a shop, see if they have the "best offer" option on listings. A realistic offer may save you 10 - 15% off the asking price all for the cost of click of a mouse! Be very cautious of postage charges especially where they include insurance. Most carriers do not insure antique silver totravel from the UK abroad, however this is not widely known and you do not want to discover it is uninsured if you have tomake a claim, if in doubt email and ask as insurance can be obtained at a muchhigher cost. Remember my earlier advice on research!

At silver2treasure we have web pages where you will find completed silver listings and the price they achieved, the most popular silver items currently on eBay UK, and those newly listed items within thelast 24 hours so that you do not have to trawl through loads of web pages.

Silver2treasureon eBay

If you read and follow the above advice we hope to see you sometime in our eBay shop at silver2treasure. We only trade on eBay and take pride in our silver stock and customer service. Our website at silver2treasure.com has useful advice and guidance on silver and aswell as our eBay shop it links back to eBay for specific categories of silver. The whole site has been designed to make your eBay silver buying an experience and a pleasure. And a final note, don't completely ignore modern silver as this is the antique of the future!

Using Recorded Delivery? Good safe service? Hmmm.

The answer to that question is debatable! The Royal Mail offer a recorded signed for deliver serviceThe say:If you have an important item to deliver, our recorded signed for service gives you complete peace of mind with proof of posting and an electronic copy of the signature available onlineThey say:Excellent value. You just pay for recorded signed for plus the cost of a first or second class postageThey say:We make sure we get a signature from whoever receives the item, but bear in mind that this may not be the person named on the address label. If there's nobody available to sign for the item and the item is not collected or redelivery rearranged within 7 calendar days, we return your mail free, with a note saying why we can't deliver it. On the rare occasions that we don't get a signature for any other reasons, we'll refund your moneySounds great doesn't it? Then how come we have received FIVE recorded delivery items in the last year, which have either been left in our outbuilding and a note popped through the door, or just pushed through the letterbox - and NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED ON ANY OF THEM! Does that sound rare to you?Do we receive thousands of recorded delivery items a year, meaning this would be a small percentage? NO WE DON'T! We have received possibly 20 recorded delivery items in the last year at the very mostOne of the items we purchased was via ebay, my partner purchased it and being honest people, we contacted the seller and informed them that we had received the item but had not had to sign for it. But for a dishonest buyer, this would be a wonderful opportunity to get something free!So my question to you is - are you really getting the service you are paying for? Maybe you want to start doing a few 'spot checks' if you use recorded delivery to find out!I hope that you find this useful, and if so, please remember to vote yes!

Scrying - It's History and Tools

Scrying, from the old English word Descry, meaning "to make out dimly" or "to reveal." is an ancient art of divination that has been in use by wise men and women in many different ways, and in many different countries.History1500BCCeltic tribes, led by Druids are known to have used crystals for divination in Britain as early as 1,500 B.C., 2nd CenturyThe Greek traveller, Pausanias described catoptromancy in his writings. Before the Temple of Ceres at Patras there was a fountain, separated from the temple by a wall, and there was an oracle, very truthful, not for all events, but for the sick only. The sick person let down a mirror, suspended by a thread till its based touched the surface of the water, having first prayed to the goddess and offered incense. Then looking in the mirror, he saw the presage of death or recovery, according as the face appeared fresh and healthy, or of a ghastly aspect.10th CenturyIn the Shahnameh, an epic written in the late 10th century, there is a description of Jaam-e Jam, a cup apparently containing the elixir of life, being used by practitioners to see the layers of the universe.16th CenturyDr John Dee (15271608) mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, geographer, and consultant to Queen Elizabeth I, and his assistant used a crystal ball. The ball is now housed in the British Museum in London. The Tools of ScryingThe tools used by the practitioner have been many and varied, depending in the culture and the availability of materials, but nearly all have involved items with a reflective surface. There is no right or wrong item for scrying. It is a matter of personal choice and what you feel comfortable with using.Air, normally using atmospheric conditions or clouds, is known as aeromancy. Who hasn't, as a child, made pictures with the clouds?Crystal Ball, both natural stone or in more modern times, glass.Earth is known as geomancy.Fire, both using flames and smoke, is known as pryomancy. Another one that I can relate to, making pictures with the flames can be quite mesmerising.Mirrors known as catoptromancy, or mirror gazingWater, or any other liquid, is called hydromancy.

futureplayuk

This is a dodgeygames, consoles and accessories seller who are very clever in their listings.

If you look carefully you will see that in their "item location" they state: "24 hour dispatch to the uk" *** they have now changed it to a location in the UK, however it states at the bottom that "accessories are sent from the uk" and it says that games are sent from various locations (ie. hong kong)

They also state in their description: "don't buy from a hong kong importer" / "don't buy from asia" - THEY ARE BASED IN ASIA! and/or GET THEIR GAMES DROPSHIPPED FROM ASIA!

Their items take 10 days to arrive sometimes (we have tested) and when you complain they say that you have to wait for it to arrive, here is a tracking reference...THAT DOESNT WORK!

Please be aware, read listings very carefully. They are selling products with the UK flag in their images and listings and yet they aren't based in the UK. We have reported them numerous times to eBay and as yet nothing. If you have ahd the same experience, report them. Eventually eBay might make them change their ways.

* We are not trying to get futureplayuk closed, we just want eBay to make them list their items clearly. "Ships from Hong Kong" or similar.

connect the ethernet splitter. Then connect both ports of the ethernet
splitter to the switch/hubvia 2 shortPatch Lead as shown. Some network installations do not have patch panels and are simply plugged straight into the switch/hub. In these cases you must connect the splitter to the end of the network cable using anRJ45 Coupler , then connect the 2 ports of the ethernet splitter to the switch like this:You should now have 2 working network connections!RegardsMarcusMHP Computer Services Ltd.

Can I attach a digital camera to the scope?

There is an increasing requirement for attaching a digital camera to a scope to take pictures of distant objects through the scope. You can achieve this by hand holding the camera, for example, or mounting the camera on a tripod next to the telescope eyepiece, building or buying an adapter to hold the camera over the scope's eyepiece, using a universal camera adapter to attach to the camera lens, or using an eyepiece with built in adapter to attach it directly to the digital camera. Or simply, you can use a digital eyepiece (such as EE301 digital eyepiece/camera) which takes pictures and video footage directly through the scope.
Both the Nipon 26-78x78 compact scope and the Nipon 20-60x70 spotting scope can be fitted with a specially made eyepiece adapter which has a 1.25" (31.75mm) socket as an eyepiece holder. The adapters are CNC precision-machined from aluminium and have a black anodised finish. With this adapter, you can fit a digital eyepiece/camera (please see a separate technical note on "Digital eyepiece for Nipon telescopes/spotting scopes" for details), or fit other optical eyepieces to this scope (both products are available fromNipon Scopes

In recent times eye lashes has become as essential as beautiful nails, white teeth and plumped up lips.

Lashes are quick, glamorous, dramatic and affordable. They come in a variety of different colours, sizes and shapes.

Eye Lash Application

A good pair of good tweezers will come in handy. Hold the lashes in the middle to help align lashes and apply adhesive.

After removing lashes from plastic holding tray, hold it at both ends flexing and bending a few times. Take note which lash is for left eye and which is for the right. Bring lash to eyelid and line up along the lid as close to your natural eyelashes as possible. Press into place and check if the lash is to long. Remove and trim off excess from the outside edge. Apply a thin coat of lash adhesive to the edge of the lash. (Don't apply to much) You can use a orange wood stick, toothpick or matchstick to spread the adhesive along the lash. Wait 30 seconds to allow the adhesive to become tacky then apply to lashremembering to get as close to your natural eyelash as possible. The white/grey coloured adhesive will dry clear. The adhesive will be dry in a few minutes.

Tips

Clarice Cliff...... I missed her by a day!!

Clarice was born in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, England, the daughter of Harry Thomas Cliff and Ann Machin; her father was the great-great-great grandson of Thomas Wedgwood IV (1716-1773), the eldest brother of Josiah Wedgwood the famous potter.
At the age of 13 she started working in the potteries. She studied at the Burslem School of Art in the evenings.
Her first job was as a gilder, and once she had mastered this she changed jobs to learn freehand painting at another potbank, then moved to A.J. Wilkinson's in 1916, to improve her chances of becoming a modeller.
This was an unusual start to an unusual career: most 'pottery girls' mastered a particular task and then stayed with that to maximise their income as they were paid by the piece. However, Clarice was ambitious and prepared to take wage reductions to start at the bottom to acquire a new skill, in the process acquiring a wide range of expertise including outlining, tubelining, enamelling, banding and modelling.
Eventually, Clarice's wide range of abilities were recognised, and she was given an opportunity to decorate some of the factory's defective 'glost' (white) ware in her own freehand patterns. She covered the imperfections in simple patterns of triangles, vividly coloured in a style that was to become known as 'Original Bizarre'. To the surprise of the company's salesmen, this was immediately popular. She was provided with her own studio and another painter to assist, but this rapidly expanded to a team of around 70 young painters, mainly women but four boys - they hand painted the wares under her direction.
Between 1928 and 1936 she evolved a new range called Fantasque which featured cottages and trees, and then many Art Deco inspired patterns. These have proven particularly collectible nowadays. Through the depths of the Depression her wares continued to sell in volume at what were high prices for the time. Her Bizarre and Fantasque ware was sold throughout the world, North America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, but not in mainland Europe. In Britain many top London stores sold it, including Harrods, but never Woolworths as some have stated.
In 1930 she was appointed Art Director to Newport Pottery and A. J. Wilkinson's, the two adjoining factories that produced her wares. Her work involved spending more time with the factory owner Colley Shorter, and this gradually developed into an affair, conducted in secrecy. In 1940, after the death of Ann Shorter, Colley's wife, they married and Clarice moved into the Shorter home, Chetwynd House, where she developed a strong interest in the extensive gardens.
During World War 2 only plain white pottery was permitted under wartime regulations, so Clarice assisted with management of the pottery but was not able to continue design work.
After the war, most production went to the US market where the taste was for formal ware in traditional English designs, rather than the striking patterns and shapes that had established Clarice's reputation. Thus she was never able to return to creative work. A.J.Wilkinson and their Newport Pottery continued to sell ware under Clarices name until 1964 when the factory was sold to Midwinter who also continued to use the 'Clarice Cliff' brand on some pieces.
Clarice's earliest Bizarre pieces from 1927 are the traditional shapes decorated in strongly geometric patterns of diamonds and triangles in bold contrasting colours, and now called 'Original Bizarre'. This early ware is usually stamped 'Bizarre' and sells for moderately high prices at auction.
By 1929 Clarice was designing her own shapes, often very angular and high Art Deco. Abstract and cubist patterns appeared on these, such as Ravel, seen on Clarice's Conical shape ware.
Clarice's are highly stylised and interpreted in strong colours, such as the 'Honolulu' pattern. Typically stamped 'Bizarre' or 'Fantasque', rare combinations of shape and pattern can attract very high prices at auction
She had become popular, with more rounded shapes, often with small flowers modelled as a handle or foot and only these were painted in detail.
Other series from this period include 'Harvest' which has detailed modeling, This late 1930s ware attracts relatively low prices at auction, though becoming more valuable.
After the second world war, although Clarice had less creative input into the ware her 'Clarice Cliff' mark was frequently added to the standard ranges made by the factory. This postwar ware has little value at auction.
In 1972, the first Clarice Cliff exhibition took place at Brighton, East Sussex, for which she provided comments for the catalogue. I was at school at Lancing College and went to Brighton for the afternoon and visited the exhibition and miss meeting her by a day..this is where my passion all started for her ceramics..Later that year Clarice died suddenly at Chetwynd House. This exhibition marked the start of a major revival of interest in Clarice's work, which has continued to be sought after by Art Deco Ceramic collectors.

Read this before you buy toners and inks.

I have been looking at various sales of inks and toners, and I am extremely concerned about the sharp practise that is going on.I think it would be reasonable to assume that if there is a photo of the product then that should be the item you are going to get.NOT SO..Lots of small print telling you to read carefully is a sign, then you will find they are going to be sent in a white box and are only starter cartridges that they are sending. This a trick they will use and then they say read the small print.

I think e bay should outlaw this scam as it is fraud ,A lot of these are based in the USA .

It is no use producing a list of the culprits because you may assume that if a seller is not on it ,then they are bone fide..as they say if it looks to good to be true,it is ..check.check.check.

We sell the original items but no longer sell any on ebay due to the fact that all this sort of deceipt goes on......beware read check ..

100% feedback is not always what you think it is because you have left feed back before you find out they are only partially filled...Hope this helps to stop them....cheers baz

Wouxun kg-689 (vhf)

Hello, and welcome to my guide of the superfine wouxun kg-689 (vhf) 136-174mhz amateur hand held radio! Now before i go into the performance of this radio i'd like to say that the wouxun is the best ive bought so far from the chinese range! And ive had a few, including now for 41 from hong kong brand new in the box, and delivery only being 3-5 days! U really cant go wrong, it has the 2nd best strongest/rugged build of any hand held! Next to the champion of all build hand helds the feidaxin 150/160/450/460, but the wouxun knocks spots off the feidaxin range in many ways! For 1 the wouxun provides nearly 3 times the battery life of the feidaxin, and is about 3 times as sensitive on receive, making it a much more professional handheld! It performs with stunning test results, and has 1w low power and 5w high power, in addition to this the wouxun also has a (distant urgency alarm key) on top of the radio which when pressed transmits a dtmf emergency signal at 7.5w! The radio also has 128 memory channels and 50 ctcss codes 105 dcs codes, also a scrambler for encrypted (totally private transmissions) v.o.x, voice activated transmit, dual frequency display, voice guide - radio talks to you in chinese/english! Steps of 5k,6.25k,10k,12.5k,25k the radio also has a changeable 3 color display! And even has a built in 88-108mhz digital fm broadcast radio, the radio however does not have a 1750hz tone burst, u wud need the wouxun kg-689e if u want that feature, the kg-689e also has 200 memory channels, but an extra 72 memory channels dont really matter and the 1750hz tone burst is rarely used these days, so the 689e is virtually the same as the 689 and 689plus! Anyway the wouxun also has 3 types of scan and 3 types of mute, not forgetting the dtmf encode/decode capability, the receive audio of this radio is fantastic! A maximum 500mw speaker output, sounding very punchy but ultra clear, even with the volume turned up high! Well here gos for the transmit audio and test results for the wouxun, now well what can i say fantastic! After getting home from a test using the wouxun from a fair few miles away at various transmit checkpoints back to the uniden bearcat ubc69xlt-2 scanner/receiver, i found the transmit audio to be perfect! With the clarity and loudness of a kenwood/yaesu handheld, the audio was not muffled in any way and neither did the audio sound tinney, (peg on the nose effect) it was mid-tone, very crisp, and nice and loud, so after a month of owning this radio i am still stunned at how much u get in this elite class of top notch chinese radios! And only 41, which included p

BT Vision wont work without a BT Vision account

The BT Vision box needs to log on with a bt server before it will work. So you would need a vision accunt added to your bt broadband account to get it to work. Plus a home hub.

nigeria scam

Hi

I too was also caught by this scam, I sold a psp to a lady (so say!) she asked me to post item to her son in nigeria, which I thought seemed ok, I had an email from paypal showing the money would be released once I sent the royal mail tracking number, which I did, I later phoned paypal, only to be told that it was a scam. The paypal email looked very official, so be warned. Dont send anything toNigeria. I think that ebay should make buyers/sellers more aware of these scams.

Microsoft Office 2007

Having recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007, I was blown away by the total transformation of this powerful little package. Finally Microsoft have listened to it's users and taken their requests into consideration when building this Software. Not only have they integrated all the systems to work seamlessly with each other, they have made it all so simple to use.Word documents are changed in real-time (Sample font types/sizes as scroll overs), but you can finally personalize your package.Well worth the upgrade, all they need to concentrate on now is the price(but isn't that always the case LOL).

Premium Rate Telephone Scams

The use, and high cost, of premium telephone numbers can be a central feature of a scam. Fraudsters use these numbers to carry out many different scams. They include phoney competitions, prize and holiday offers, as well as deceptive credit card promotions. The longer you stay on the line, the more money the fraudster earns.

False promises

The scams may begin with notification by post, by phone or other means, claiming that you have won something or have qualified for a credit card. You might be promised a product or service, but what you actually receive, if you receive anything, is likely to be disappointing.

If you are calling to get a credit card, you might simply get a list of banks to which you can apply for a card. If you are told to call because you are the winner of a prize draw you will receive nothing at all, except a very large phone bill!

You might call the number and be required to listen to a long recorded sales message or answer a long list of questions. Remember, the longer you stay on the phone, the higher the charge for the call.

You might even be directed to a second premium rate telephone number for additional information or to claim you prize or order your product or service.

Tips to remember

Premium rate telephone numbers attract charges by the minute, usually well above the cost of a local or STD call.

Don't dial these numbers unless you are absolutely sure how much you will be charged and you are willing to pay for it.

Be on your guard if; after dialing one of these numbers you hear a message asking you to dial a second number.

Do some research into the organisation if you have never heard of them before, and trust your own common sense?

You can always hang up.

TIPS FOR TALKING - CHILD LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

My youngest son is having speach and language difficulties ...the following is a synopsis of the more helpful advice we've been given in the hope that it helps you and your child too ...

Learning to talk is one of the most complex skills your child will learn - this guide gives advice on how to help your child become a good communicatorenabling them to express themselves, to listen, learn, read, make friends and be confident.

1. Dummies and Talking

Babies like to suck and dummies can help to soothe a baby at bedtime or when your baby is tired or cross, but regular and extended use of dummies can create problems with your childs speach.

Try to wean your baby of dummies by the timethey reach 12months beacuse this is the time that they start to babble and use words.

Make a clean break, throw away all your dummies over a weekend or when you have support. Most babies will will fret forno more than 2-3 days before learning to settle themselves without a dummy.

Dummies prevent babies from babbling - an important step towards talking so only use at bedtime if you really have to

When your baby cries they are trying to tell you something, try to find out what is troubling them rather than putting a dummy in their mouth

Never dip a dummy into honey or anything sweet as this can cause tooth decay

Remember, learning to talk can be tricky so toddlers need lots of practice. Dummies discourage your toddler from chatting with you which s/he needs to doto develop his/her language skills.

If your toddler is still using a dummy, ask him/her to take it out before they speak to you so that their mouths can make the correct shapes for speach.

2. MAKING THE MOST OF TELEVISION

Like adults children often use the tv to relax and unwind. Used in the right way the tv can be beneficial but too much can be harmful so it is important to get the balance right ...

I was advised that under 1 they should have no more than 1/2 an hour per day and between 2-5 years no more than 1 hour but in practice I think most adults will find this hard to stick to

Always turn the tv off when no-one is watching itbecause the background noise can distratct you and your child from playing, listening and talking to each other.

Try to limit your child to watching programmes that have been specifically designed for their age group.

Allowing your child to watch the same DVD or video again and again is better than letting them watch tv, repitition and familarity of words and phrases make it easier for children to lean from

Try and watch tv programmes and videos DVD's together so that you can discuss what you're watching

Don't put a tv in a childs room

Don't use the tv to put your child to sleep

3. Saying Hello to your Baby

Talking to your baby from day one will help you get to know each other.

Even babies a few hours old will seak out faces and study them intently, you baby is listening so keep talking !

Copy back any cooing bubububu rarararara mumumumu sounds,

4. Playing with your Baby

You don't need a load of expensive toys .... you are your babies bestplaymate ....Count your babies toes, play peekaboo, sing songs

Choose safe simple toys that can be mouthed by your baby, exploring toys with their tounge and mouth is all part of speach development.

Make lots of play sounds "brum brum" "woof woof" "glug glug" "oink oink" .etc this way your child will learn that objects don't just have names but that they have fun sounds too.

As your baby gets to be a toddler don't be tempted to teach them anything while they are playing ... kids learn best when they choose and direct their own play and you follow their lead.

5. Talking with your Baby

Talk to your baby during the day - provide a running commentery when you're feeding bathing or changing a nappy.

Talk about the things you see on the way to the shops using single words eg "Dog" "Digger" "Car" "Park" "Bus"

Look at your baby as you talk, listen carefullyand give your baby a chance to answer you

Cuddle up and share a book, talk about the pictures as well as reading the story.

Have fun with nursery rhymes and songs especially those with actions 'wind the bobin up' 'twinkle twinkle' 'head shoulders knees and toes'

Watch tv together and talk about what you're watching

If your toddler says something incorrectly, you say it back the right way but don't chastise..... my kids used to say teacups for hiccups and radihaters instead of radiators !!

6. Sharing Books

Sharing books is a wonderful way to help your child learn to speak and its a great oppoirtunity to share a cuddle.

Find a quiet cosy place with the tv and radio off

As well as reading the story use the pictures to talk about thingsin your child's r5eal life - eg if there is a picture of a cat talk about a cat you know.

Give your child time to respond to your chatter

Don't put any pressure on your child to name the pictures, but if s/he copies your words praise him/her and repeat the word again to reinforce.

Visit your local library for different books, it's free to join - don't worry if books get damaged by your baby, libraries understand !

Don't read for too long - little kids get bored - little and often is best

Let other grown ups join in .... grandparents, older siblings and other carers

It's good to share favorite books again and again - repitition helps children to understand and remember the language they hear.

Rememeber you are not teaching your child to read You learn to talk a long time before you learn to read and book sharing is an excellent way to help your childs language development.

7. Sharing Songs and Nursery Rhymes

Babies love songs and nursery rhymes especially hearing the sound of your voice and they're a great way to help your child's talking and listening skills

Your voice is your babies favorite music ! so sing sing sing !

Turn off the tv and radio so your baby can hear your voice.

You don;t have to sing baby songs you can sing the latest chart music, opera or anything - if you show you're enjoying singing your baby will enjoy it too

You can borrow music cds and tapes from the library, choose rhyming books too

When you're baby is tired or upset trying singing a soft lullaby theyshould quieten to hear your voice

Young kids learn best through play so make songs and rhymes fun, change the sound of your voice, make up some actions or add your childs name or the names of family and friends

When your toddler joins in show that you've noticed by giving lots of encouragement and praise.

Even if your toddler is just beginning to talk listen to his reaction to the song or rhyme.

Beware of Fastway Couriers

I am writing this as I have just come across somebody recommending Fastway Couriers: - BE VERY CAREFUL we set up with them, bought loads of stickers, then the Francise driver in our area sold his round and the new driver wouldn't collect from us as we were out of the way for him and then he gave up as the job cpmpletely!. They don't refund the stickers and we are having to issue a claim through the small claims court to get our money back, some people have commented that you can sell the prepaid stickers on but you can't as they are non transferrable and can only be used in the particular area! When we did have a driver the service was extremely poor, many days the driver didn't turn up and the excuses were usually van broken down, sat nav broken down, day after day! It w as also virtually impossible to get them to answer the phone to arraneg a pick up so you have to just book one for every day ot you risk not being able to contact them! Once you have stickered up your parcels it is a real pain to peel them off and go to the Post Office, especially as you have already paid for the stickers. The depot in question is the Leeds depot but talking to other areas, as with this depot, if you are not in the centre of a major city they are not really interested.

Battle ready swords for reenactment

We often receive messages from ebayers asking if our swords are suitable for reenactment.Every year there are hundreds, if not thousands of serious accidents involving so called battle ready, reenactment swords. It's easy enough to find battle ready swords on the web, but are they really suitable for combat, or will you be risking your life, or other peoples lives?Unfortunately sellers know that if they offer their sword for reenactment it will sell better and for at least double the normal price. Steel used for reenactment is mostly EN45 Sprung steel, this doesn't mean that it automatically makes the sword battle worthy, or safe. Most of our swords are EN45 Sprung steel, but not battle worthy, why? When buying a sword for reenactment there are certain things to look out for.1. The blade is well balanced, and EN45 Sprung steel.(For battle the blade has to have an adequate carbon level, just because it's listed as Carbon Steel or Sprung Steel doesn't make the blade battle worthy, it also has to be tempered properly, if the seller doesn't mention how the blade has been tempered then it probably hasn't been tempered at all)2. The sword has a full tang construction not rat tail.(this means the blade goes all the way to the pommel without too much tapering, a rat tail construction means the blade at the grip end has been tapered to about 5-6mm and a single bolt holds the blade in place, of course this means the chance that the blade will rattle or break away from the grip, is pretty strong)3. The tip is rounded4. The edge is blunt and the width of the edge is at least 3-4mm, after all, you will be hitting people with the edge! This is not a full guide or review to battle ready weapons, just a short common sense guide to hlep those new to reenactment. We seriously advise you to join a club for reenactment and ask members advise about how to, and where to buy battle ready swords. There are far too many sellers out there who will sell you something battle ready, which isn't just to make a sale.If you do decide to buy a battle ready sword from the web you should aim for a sword costing at least 250 pounds upwards. Make sure the seller offers at LEAST a 5 year guarantee that the sword will not break, rattle etc... Also that the seller accepts all liability for injuries caused through defective material. If the seller doesnt trust their product enough to offer such a written guarantee, then you shouldnt trust it either, it's your life and you or your friend that will be at 'the sharp end' when it breaks, and they do!

SONS OF BITCHES WHO SELL FAKE DVD'S ON EBAY

I FEEL, AFTER YET ANOTHER COUNTERFEIT MOVIE FALLS ONTO MY DOORMAT, COMPELLED TO WARN MY FELLOW EBAYERS ABOUT THE VARIOUS COWBOY SELLERS TOUTING FAKE FILMS OUT THERE. SLOWLY BUT SURELY I AM GETTING THE GIST OF THEIR TERMINOLOGY NOW SO I HAVE DECIDED TO PASS IT ON. DO NOT BOTHER WITH ANY SO-CALLED 'PUBLIC DOMAIN' TITLES AS THEY ARE JUST CHEAP IMITATIONS WITH ARTWORK DECIDED UPON BY THE PIRATE AND WITH LITTLE OR NO EXTRAS. IF THEY HAVE MULTIPLE LISTING OF NEW TITLES AT A KNOCK DOWN PRICE IT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE KNOCK OFF COPIES WITH PHOTOCOPY COVERS. EVEN STILL SEALED ISN'T A GUARANTEE BECAUSE YOU CAN NOW BUY PORTABLE SEALERS TO USE AT HOME ! SO IF THAT PRICE FOR 'CATACOMBS', 'VACANCY', 'SMOKIN ACES', 'FRANKENSTEIN', 'BOTCHED' , OR 'NAKED BLOOD' LOOKS TOO GOOD THEN IT IS BECAUSE IT'S DODGY. AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BUY ANYTHING THAT HAS NOT BEEN OFFICIALLY RELEASED, YOU MIGHT AS WELL BURN YOUR MONEY. I NOW SCRUTINISE FEEDBACK, DESCRIPTIONS, RELEASE DATES, SELLER ID'S EVERY SINGLE TIME - IT MIGHT TAKE LONGER BUT IT'S WORTH IT. ON THE PLUS SIDE FOR SOME STRANGE REASON I HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN SENT A DODGY REGION ONE FILM, SO MY ADVICE IS IF YOU CAN, BUY A R1 PLAYER OR AT LEAST A MULTI REGION AND THEN STICK TO R1 DISCS - THIS HAS AN ADDED BONUS IN THAT YOU NORMALLY GET UNRATED, UNCUT, EXTREME EDITIONS THAT ARE LONGER AND WITH BETTER EXTRAS. THERE IS OF COURSE ONE EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE - IF YOU ARE AFTER A LONG SINCE DELETED OR BANNED FILM THEN THE SOB'S ARE THE ONLY AVENUE TO GET A COPY ! HOPE THAT HELPS SOMEONE OUT THERE.

PAYPAL UNFAIR DISPUTE DECISION

I recently bought a Sony vivo Small laptop, since it wasn't a Brand NEW as the seller stated, i returned the item through Registered Anpost (ireland official Post office), like Great Britain - they don't provide an address recorded in their reciept. but we get a Registered Number for tracking online, inspite i provided the photocopy to Paypal through fax , they decided stating can't track the item to Sellers Address- improper reference. what else should paypal consider in relation to evidence inspite the tracking number shows where in the item is delivered.

Do you think i was given a fair decision or Not. Please support my situation by clicking YES or NO button below.

Many thanks in advance.

paypal and ebay fees

it may just be me getting old or do you think paypal and ebay should take their fees inclusive of postage ?

when all is said and done postage is an extra payment for guess what , yep POSTAGE

ebay are having a rare old dig at sellers postage charges and kicking their asses for charging too much postage, but if paypal and ebay did not take commision on a dam postal charge's sellers would not have to charge so much and get slagged of for doing it,

STOP BEING SO DAM GREEDY and only take what is rightfully yours

at least dick turpin had a mask on when he robbed people.

thanks for reading my little moan and i feel a bit better now thats of my chest

Fake GHDs MKIV from The Style Box or Bee_Vintage!!!

Bought from: The Style Box AKA Bee_Vintage

Warning. Be aware when buying the new mkIV GHDs. I bought some supposedly genuine GHD's only to find they were fakes. These were absolutely fantastic. They came with a genuine GHD sealed box, they had all the writing in the right place. The holograms were perfect with the 15 digit code, came with a CD and supposed to have a two year warranty.

I had these straigtheners for 3 weeks when they started to constantly beep and would no longer heat up. I range GHD for advice and I also tried to register the 15 digit code only to find that this could had tried to be registered over 30 times. I explained how genuine this product seemed and GHD explained that these fakes are now so good that the only way of knowing is to open the GHD's up. They asked me to send them in and they would send a letter confirming these were fakes.

I did get a refund from the ebayer after stating i was going to give their details to GHD. They gave me a full refund saying they are not dishonest people. However, i have had several emails from other people who have bought off this ebayer saying they are having the same problem. Therefore i feel there is no doubt this ebayer is 100% dishonest and knows exactly what they are doing.

I hope this helps anyone who may be considering buying GHDs. Steer well clear.

Sinclair A-Bike counterfeits

Lots of Sinclair A-Bike folding bikes for sale on eBay are Chinese counterfeits.

They seem to be made to blueprints sent out to factories by Sinclair when they were soliciting bids from firms that might be interested in contracts to produce the bike.

Build quality and therefore your safety cannot be guaranteed. Blogs on A-bike owner forums suggest failure of non-metallic parts is a problem.

DOCTOR WHO ANNUAL/YEARBOOK. World Distributors/Marvel UK. 1965-presentVery collectible set of annals, particularly the early ones and more so the Patrick Troughton incarnations. The surprise one is the 1971 Jon Pertwee 'pink' annual. Supposedly rare owing to printing and distribution problems but you know what? I don't think it's that tough to find after all. I must have seen at least 20 copies on E Bay so far this year and it just keeps on turning up. Traditionally it would sell for over 100 in anything approaching nice condition (and I do mean nice!!). I suppose for true Near Mint, a premium of 150-200 is right. But don't over-pay on this one. Believe me, it's not rare. It does show up so be patient and get it at a comfortable price. Nice cover on this 1971 annual by Ron Smethhurst but also beware there's a puzzle inside that is often completed in biro which ruins the clean look of the interior. Always ask your E Bay vendor about any puzzles or games within an annual. I've chosen to picture this annual instead of the first one from 1965 which is pretty common by the way! So don't over-pay for that one! The 2008 annual is rather groovy with a full cover hologram.PR GD VG FN VF NM MINT1.0 2.0 4.0 6.0 8.0 9.0 10.01965 William Hartnell cover1.00 3.00 6.00 15.00 30.00 60.001971 Jon Pertwee cover1.50 5.00 15.00 40.00 80.00 150.00DOCTOR WHO WEEKLY/MONTHLY MAGAZINE. Marvel UK. Weekly: 1 17th Oct 1979-43 6th Aug 1980; Monthly 44 Sep 1980 -presentFree gift transfers with issue #1 are pretty common and you'd expect them to be part of the comic. They were attached to the front cover rather than loose inside so many copies on E Bay have them attached as standard. In fact issues #2 and #3 had a free sheet of transfers and they're pretty common. 3-4 in Near Mint with transfers I'd say.PR GD VG FN VF NM MINT1.0 2.0 4.0 6.0 8.0 9.0 10.01 .25 .50 1.00 2.00 4.00 7.50DRACULA LIVES. Fake Shure SM58's

I have never used e-bay before so let this be a BIG WARNING TO ALL. I bid on three mics hoping to get two - my fault I know - I won all three. The first was paid for on Pay Pal and that was the last I ever heard of it or the seller - now subject of a dispute. The second and third arrived within a day of each other and they were identical. Identical fakes!! The box says SM 58 LC - for the last 5 years the box should say LCE - the printed box looks yellowish - it should be white - but - THIS IS PROOF POSITIVE THAT YOU HAVE A FAKE - CHECK THE WEIGHT. If the "original" paperwork is still in the box it says weight 10.5 oz or 295gms - the fakes weigh a good 2oz less - 8oz or about 250gms. This is slackness on the fakers part but indisputable - Shure will confirm it is a fake. To date one seller has reacted brilliantly and the other aggressively. The people who are selling these as a "buy now" item generally know the items are not real. Ask the question first. This is also happening on Amazon and there are a lot of these copies around. Take care.

How to Identify Fake Ugg Boots

Hello,

The purpose of this guide is to help you identify fake ugg boots from the real ones.

Theugg australia boots by Deckers are the perfect footwear for today's active men and women. The most popular styles are the classic tall, classic short, sundance, and ultra boots. Unfortunately, it is becoming easier and easier to buy fake ugg boots due to the fact that there are several overseas companies that are using the terms, "ugg," and "sheepskin," in marketing their own brand just to confuse buyers.

There are several fake uggs circulating on the internet, alot of these fake uggs are extremely difficult to detect with the inexperienced eye. One of trends common among sellers of fake uggs is that most of these sellers will have zero to very low feedback score, so its a good idea to check their feedback before you buy. These sellers are often located in the Netherlands, Greece. China, Australia, and the Dominican Republic.

Another note is that these fake sellers usually list in large quantities for duration of 3 days or less just so they could get a quick sale. Fake ugg boots also carry a high distinct smell similar to that of paint, this smell comes from the dye that is being used in the synthetic materials - this is not the case with real uggs.

Please note that all classic style ugg boots are now exclusively made in China. They are made with genuine merino sheepskin. Twin-faced sheepskin is used in the core of the boots; also the wool of genuine sheep skin is extremely dense, unlike fakes. This dense quality makes them more comfortable and more durable. Other uggs may look like sheepskin but they are not as durable.

PrevioulsyDeckers use to make their uggsin Australia and New Zealand but approximately 2 years ago they have started to manufacture them in China. The genuine deckers ugg have an R in a circle right beside the word ugg on the sole of the boot, this is to show their registered trade mark - fake uggs do not have this R in the circle.

Also be aware of sellers who normally use generic stock pictures instead of their own photos, the fake sellers use the stock photos from the ugg website, which is totally different from what you will get.

As you shop for your new uggs just make sure your are getting the realdeal, even if it means paying a little higher price. The durability, quality, and comfort are well worth the price. Good luck!!

Washable Nappies - A First Timers Simple Guide

I recently swapped my daughter into washable nappies and can honestly say it's the best thing I've done for her. She is now ten months (we started using washables at eight months) and I wish I'd done it sooner.I personally use Wonderoos but have tried a few other types as is recommended to find the right ones for us. I'd strongly recommend buying used or trial packs of several brands and styles as well as reading as much information as possible before making this major investment. Also read all the information you can find. People's opinions differ and even supposedly independant retailers all have their own opinions. No one nappy will work for everyone but it's generally possible to decide what might be best for you, that's the idea of this guide (that and taking the confusion out of all the terms involved!)First of all you need to understand what's available, it took me a while to read up and work out what was what and what did what! I personally wanted the simplest possible nappy system and they had to be quick to dry. Identifying what you want is obviously essential, if you have no tumble dryer (or don't want to use it much) then quick drying is important, if you have a limited budget you might want to consider buying over time or using a cheaper nappy system. If you are particularly concerned about sensitive skin or environmental issues then that might be your most important factor.Having identified what you actually want from your new washable nappy system you need to find the product that best suits your needs. Washable nappies come in a huge range of types the main ones are:Pocket nappies - examples of these are Wonderoos, Swaddlebees, Fuzzi Bunz, Minki's etc. Pocket nappies are particularly versatile as you have essentially what looks like a disposable nappy that you then 'stuff' (they are sometimes also called 'stuffable' nappies) with various absorbant materials to create a nappy. They go on like disposables and are extremely simple to use. Because you can take the stuffing out to wash and dry them they dry really fast. They are usually lined with microfleece making them extremely kind to baby's skin. They don't need any separate wrapper or liner unless you want to use disposable liners. You can buy specialist inserts (stuffing) for them (most nappy manufacturers recommend their own) and they generally come in microfibre, bamboo or hemp with varying absorbencies. You can also use microfibre cloths (as found in pound shops across the land), terry squares or anything absorbent (even a tea towel or old t-shirt will do it in an emergency!) Overall pocket nappies are great because they are so simple to use, even nurseries and childminders won't mind using them as they really are as simple as disposables but without the environmental impact.Shaped two-part nappies - examples of these are Motherease Sandy's, Tots Bots Fluffles and Bamboozles, Bambinex, Bambiseas etc. Shaped two-part nappies are (as the name suggests) nappies in two parts. You use a main nappy and then a 'wrap' over that which is waterproof and prevents leaks. The inner nappy part is usually terry cotton, bamboo or flannelette. The inner part fastens with either applix (velcro to you and I), poppers or a 'nappy nippa' (a funky little rubber device that fastens three ways to keep the nappy on, simpler than it sounds!) Although you have two pieces to put on your baby (the nappy and the wrap) they are still simple to use as there is no folding or pinning necessary with these shaped nappies. Some new types can be fastened together (Motherease Sandy's definitely can) before putting on the baby while they stand to make things even simpler. Great for toddlers! These two-part shaped nappies give excellent 'leakproofness' (usually known as 'containment') and are a great choice for night or when your baby becomes a 'heavy wetter'. They do take a while to dry compared to pocket nappies and inserts but are still fairly easy to keep on top of.All in one nappies (sometimes shortened to AIO nappies) - examples of these are Swaddlebees All In Ones, Magic-Alls, Motherease All In Ones etc. As it says really, completely all in one nappies but washable. They go on just like disposables, you can buy popper fastening or applix (velcro) and they don't come apart for washing. You also don't need a separate wrap. The disadvantage is really the same as the advantage, because they don't come apart and are 'all in one' they dry more slowly (not being separated into smaller pieces). This is being overcome in some of the newer microfleece designs and it's worth looking at AIO nappies if you really are totally against doing any assembly whatsoever.Flat nappies - traditional terry squares or muslins. On paper these look like a nightmare. If you're aged over about 18 you probably wore these at some point and your mum will no doubt tell you what a nightmare they can be! That said they are the cheapest option! A full set of flat nappies (including fasteners and wraps) can be bought for under 60. The same amount will buy you 4 pocket nappies. Quick to dry, useful for keeping handy as burping cloths or stuffing for your pocket nappies. Learning to fold them can take perseverance and I wouldn't like to try and get one on a wriggly toddler but flat nappies definitely have their place. Very good for smaller babies and newborns too!Ok, so you've decided which type of nappies you need - either pocket, shaped, flat or all in one. Now what??Well my next decision was did I want sized nappies (sized by weight of baby) or a one-size birth to potty system. I decided that for my needs (my daughter was eight months already) it made more sense to buy birth to potty. Might seem odd at eight months but I felt buying two sets (medium and large) was going to be expensive and as my husband and I want another child within a year or so birth to potty made sense for us. Generally speaking one sized (birth to potty) nappies are the cheaper option. One size to buy, one outlay and that's that. Of course it's also the simplest option but you do have to realise that at either end of the 'baby spectrum' the nappies might not be the best fit. For example most one-size nappies say they fit from 8lb, my daughter was slightly premature and weighed only 6lb 3oz at birth. She was two months old before she reached 8lb. I don't think looking at my Wonderoos even folded right down that they would have fitted her before about 10lb. Again at the top end of the spectrum you may find your toddler grows out of their nappies before being potty trained. My two and a bit year old son still fits fine into his sister's Wonderoos (he's a chunky boy) but then he's way off being potty trained despite best efforts. The other consideration is how bulky you want the nappies to be. One sized nappies obviously have to be folded down to fit tiny babies and that means they can't be as absorbant for bigger toddlers. Boosters might help with this but if your baby seems a 'heavy wetter' it might be worth considering multi-sized nappies. You can usually get away with missing a size here and there and might manage with two sets. Also it's worth remembering that washable nappies have great re-sale value here on eBay so it might well be worth considering multi-size if say mum and dad are tall or big or if you want to guarantee a good fit throughout your baby's time in nappies. Also to be considered is cost. Washable nappies are an expense that's for sure. But then so are disposables. I reckon I spent around 20 a month on disposables, I also reckon my daughter will be at least two by the time she's potty trained. That means I'd have spent 480 on disposables (plus the cost of wipes) over two years. That's buying Pampers/Huggies big economy boxes. I bought instead 14 x Wonderoos at 14 each, costing me just under 200. I save around 280!! If I then use the same nappies for a second child I save that 480 again. A total saving of 760. That you can't argue with. That brings me neatly on to the next issue. How many?? I swapped late into washables and so needed less than I'd need for a newborn. For a new baby (changing nappies up to 10 times a day) I'd say you'd want 20 nappies and would wash every other day (a machine load ish). For an older baby, for example my eight month old I found 14 was enough washing every other day. For my toddler (now two) we only change him 4-5 times a day so 10-12 nappies would be ample. It really depends how often you want to wash! Most nappies can be washed with the family washing (if you're happy to do that) at 40 degrees. I do a separate nappy wash every other day (I just don't like the idea of poop in my washing!) I find a quick wash (or a long rinse cycle) first with no detergent and then a full 40 degree cycle with half detergent (if you use too much it stops the nappies being so absorbent!) works perfectly. I then tumble them for about 45 minutes if it's wet out or ideally line dry them (the sun bleaches any stains out too). Oh yes, NEVER EVER use fabric conditioner on your washable nappies, they'll leak like crazy if you do!!!! Tumble dryer sheets do the same thing.Well you should now be able to decide which nappies you at least want to try. As I said I'd recommend trying 3-4 different types and considering having two or three different types for different occasions (possibly day and night, or childminder/nursery or out and about etc) too. There are a few other things you'll need/want to get started with your washables. I'd recommend:Nappy bin/bucket - I have two, one upstairs, one downstairs - the downstairs one usually ends up full of bibs and washable wipes but it's still handy to have there! The bin should have a tight fitting lid to prevent smells. You don't need to soak nappies anymore, some manufacturers actually discourage it as it shortens the life of some nappies (check your labels). Dry pailing (dry bucket) is fine, I add 3-4 drops of tea tree essential oil and 3-4 drop of lavender essential oil (smells amazing!) to prevent niffsNets for your buckets - handy these, little drawstring nets you place in the nappy bucket so you can just lift the lot out and shove it in the machine not handling any nasties. As long as you leave the drawstring open you can usually get away with not tipping them out, if I find after the rinse there are any in the bag still I empty it then.Boosters - at some point your nappies will probably need boosting, especially at night. I use bamboo boosters (way more absorbant than cotton) and find they are perfect. I live in a hard-water area so it wasn't practical for us to use hemp at all. All sorts of boosters are available, depending on your nappy type you can use 'sit in' (loose) or 'snap-in' (fastens to the nappy) you can put them inside pockets or next to babies skin. Remember microfleece is great as it acts as a one-way barrier and draws wetness away, anything next to babies skin should remain as dry as possible to prevent rashes.Nappy nippas - if you're not using popper fit or applix (velcro). I've referred to these before and they are a funky modern alternative to pins. They have three stretchy 'wings' off a bit of rubbery stuff in the middle and they stretch out to grab the sides and crotch of the nappy. They are simple to use when you've got the hang of them and come in a range of colours.Multi-purpose wet bag - handy when out and about, if you've got to carry a poopy nappy around you at least want it stored safely! Waterproof lined handy bags that drawstring closed. I have a 'stinky minki' bag and use their washable wipes too.Washable wipes - I could write a whole other guide about these (and possibly will!) I strongly recommend them, my toddler actually begs to be wiped they're so lovely!Other than that it's really quite simple to get going with washable nappies. A quick look around eBay or around the net in general should allow you to compare prices and do remember to check with your local council, many give grants or cashback when you buy washable nappies!!!

Abercrombie

Just a quickie, please don't be fooled by the low prices of the 'Forked Lake' mens shorts currently on sale on ebay. I would say 99% of them are fake. Having bought a pair from the flagship store in London and a pair of ebay, there is a massive difference in quality. A

golly badge or any item using buy it now price !

When using a buy it now price. Dont make the gap between the start bid and the buy it now price to far away from each other,As it can make the buyer bid just under the buy it now price and you have paid fees on the buy it now for no gain.

Unless its a bargain !

example.

0.99p starting bid for a 1980 Bagpiper.

BUY IT NOW price 39.99

No one will want to bid that or will just bid 99p to stop others buying it now.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

29.99 start price.

BUY IT NOW price 39.99

This tempts people into buying it now and it saves you money as anyone bidding on either price eliminates a 99p sale if there are no other bdders.

Hope this helps and check out my other guides.
