HEWLETT PACKARD PRINTER ADVICE

Hewlett Packard or HP for short offer a wide variety of printers from all-in-one printer/scanners suitable for office use to home-based options such as affordable ink and laser printers. Your choice of printer will come down to several factors:

The size of paper you intend to use (A4/A3/photo size)

The number of copies you require whether it be one off prints or larger volumes

The quality of print high quality photo or fast printing mono documents

The speed of print

The all-in-one printer/scanner is also an option for home users who wish to scan photographs into digital files or copy documents. Some HP printers also offer automatic 2 sided printing so if you do a lot of 2 sided prints then these models can save much time.

For simple office requirements where the user needs only to print A4 mono documents, the recommended models are the HP Laserjet 1022 or the HP Laserjet P1505 (also P1505n).

For photo reproduction without the need to scan, the HP Photosmart D5160, HP Photosmart D5360 and HP Photosmart D7160 are ideal choices.

Those users who require a scanning option for their photo reproduction should consider the HP Photosmart C4280, HP Photosmart C5280 or HP Photosmart C5180.

Office users who require all-in-one solutions should look no futher than the HP Officejet 4315, the HP Officejet J5780 or the HP Officejet 5610.

Remember, to get the best out of your Hewlett Packard printer, follow these steps:

Use the print preview option before printing any document to make sure everything will appear as planned (draft mode printing can also be used to make a hard copy for preview purposes).Print in black and white wherever possible to reduce costs.Turn your printer off between long periods of printing.Use the print properties option to control the quality of print to your needs. Printing in lower quality will save ink on print jobs which dont require high detail.

Petite Star Zia Pushchair - no alternative to Quinny

Petite Star Zia PushchairI bought this pushchair not long after it was launched in September 2007 as it was lightweight for my holiday. However, before anyone else makes a decision to buy one, PLEASE BEWARE! The wheels frequently come off when walking down the pavement or crossing the road due to a fault in the design. The manufacturer's have dangerously placed a 'quick release' button for the wheels only 2 inches from the ground so any bump in the ground or going up and down curbs knocks the wheels completely off.I chose the Petite Star Zia as it was advertised on ebay as being like the Quinny Zapp but with recline and for 99.99 I thought it was worth a try. I was wrong - the quality is no match to a Quinny product and after using for 2 months it fell to bits! PositivesLightweightFolds down smallNegativesWheels come off easilyFlimsyCannot access shopping basket when baby is in seatAdjustable recline strap is difficult to adjust and stay in positionMy advice is to stick to the well known brands and models with a proven tried and tested reputation.

PAPER JAMS ON LASER PRINTERS

Paper jams are common on most laser printers. Because Laser printers use heat to fuse the toner from the toner cartridge onto the paper, they seem to foul up more than inkjet printers in this respect. Type of paper is important, if you experience frequent paper jams, try changing the brand or quality of paper. Paper jams are also common when the paper drawer is almost empty

Beware!!!

when buying a vehicle, H.P.I. does not cover everything, to my cost...i had bought a "ringer". all the plates had been changed, but the engine number had not been cleared properly....i thought something was wrong, when spare parts i had bought would not fit,but parts for an older model would...so before i contacted the seller i called the police, and after doing thier checks" impounded "the vehicle there and then. they informed me, that if i had been pulled-up or been involved in an accident, ...i could have been arrested for being "in possesion of a stolen vehicle". the previous two sellers had ..had the vehicle H.P.I'd. so take or get someone who really knows about the vehicle you intend to buy..

REMEMBER!!!!!! H.P.I. is no guarantee!!! so far i have lost 8,500.00.

so! BEWARE.

CECT A380i mobile

Having liked the look and feel of the new iphone but not being able to afford one, I read about CECT mobiles in a PC mag. I started searching for such mobiles and decided on the A380i as it seemed to have good reviews on various websites etc. I didn't want to buy from abroad so chose a seller on Ebay that was shipping from the UK. I received my mobile on 14th February, it comes with 2 Lion batteries, a charger with UK adaptor (that also doubles as a data cable), earphones, UKmanualand silicone cover.

The phone can hold 2 sims, the primary sim needs to be put in the Sim 1 slot. You can only use one sim at a time but its fairly easy to switch. There were some preloaded mp3's and mp4 files but many of the songs are chinese. When you attach your phone to your PC via the data cable its basically a case of drag and dropping your files into the desired folder e.g Music, Photos, Video's etc. You can use MP3 tunes for ringtones and photo's for wallpaper or screensavers. The phone has got a memory card installed and I assume this can be upgraded to a larger one if required.

The layout of the menu on the home screen is fairly similar to the iphone but you can't search through your files etc like you can with an iphone. It has a shake feature that you can use to change wallpaper or MP3's, but so far I've found this annoying as when I've put the phone down with little movement the wallpaper has changed and I can't find a way to disable this feature so far. I would imagine that if your out and using the phone as an MP3 player it would easily jump to the next tune with the slightest movement.

Moving onto SMS so far I am very disapointed with how this works. You have the choice of handwriting with the stylus or using the tiny qwerty keyboard at the bottom of the touch screen. Having been very used to the layout of a standard phone keyboard I found this method slow and inaccurate ( and I can touch type on a keyboard!) The handwriting recognition method is extremely slow and often picks the wrong character.

If you want to use MMS or WAP you will need to download the WAP and MMS settings from your network provider before you can do this, I went to the T-Mobile website and downloaded them from there but had to pick another phone from the list as obviously they don't list foreign phones.

To conclude the phone is a good buy if you want an iphone look alike but dont expect to get all the features of one.

I don't think I would buy another foreign phone as if you decide you don't like the phone you can't send it back, at least when purchasing an english phone you have 14 days to decide if you like it and can go into a shop and try the features before you buy.
